Their politics meant nothing to her. Brianna had completed what she'd set out to do: kill the one who had wiped out everything dear to her. Leaving a trail of blood in her wake, she crossed the threshold of the throne rooms and entered the halls. The guards watched them pass silently. It was all too quiet, with only the sound of her own breathing filling her ears. Her feet dragged as she walked, and she found herself leaning against Zaeren even more. Her fingers closed around his arm in a white knuckled grip. Her breathing grew more labored as they worked through the labyrinthine corridors.
She didn't even remember leaving the castle, but the fresh air and the sound of the massive castle doors closing was enough to rouse her from her zombie-esque state. She found her iron grip on Zae's arm tighten even further, and finally she croaked out, "Carry me through the portal home because my legs are going to give out on me..."
And that was the last thing she remembered.
