Ah, a bit of a touchy subject, her parents. Faolan filed it away in the ask about it later category. Perhaps when he found G'reg and could get a little more guidance in handling conversations. He seemed to have hurt Auxina's feelings, but now wasn't the time to try and apologize when they were standing out in the open.

"Yes, I understand," he whispered harshly. "But you need to be quiet while you're out in the open. I'm sure the dragons where you're from are fine, but just because those dragons are friendly, doesn't mean these ones are."

It was a little funny that he was being lectured about getting to know dragons before passing judgement when he was bonded to one. He'd spoken to many dragons while G'reg was around and the ones in the plains seemed to share a similar mentality. They could be civilized for sure, much more civilized than any other settlement he had seen, but there was no leader of sorts that gave them direction.

They survived in the face of being hunted by other beings, and were not afraid to raze every settlement that dotted the plains and the forests. They were very much a "leave us alone and we don't bother you" sort. And that was how it was. Faolan had earned the respect of some of the dragons, but there were more that hated him for having his connection to G'reg.

In fact, G'reg had given him a task to convince other dragons of his legitimacy. It was grueling, but there was fruit from his labors. He could at least talk to them, which was a start.

He kept his eyes skyward while he ushered Auxina into the tall grass, though once he was enveloped in the plains, he had to stay focused. Some of the Wyverns liked to hunt on foot because there was the element of surprise, and curious Wyverns would come slinking around to find out what was coming into their territory now.

"You avoid the question about your parents," Faolan said. "We're going to be in the grass for a while. Might as well talk about it. No judgement."

Auxina didn't like to speak about her parents, at birth she had inherited many fond abilties from her parents however the ability to see into the future was a power her parents grew hatred for, as a bat Bellonese her parents wanted her to have the ability of sonar with her an echo yet it enhanced into more of a schreeching of shockwaves. Once they found out of these abilties, she was sent out of her village and branded an outcast, as a mere child she roamed this world hoping to find someone who would love her better than her parents ever did.

She isn't openly ready to even expose her history as she was sure that most people in this society wouldn't even understand. Auxina turned her head while folding her arms as she continued on with there stroll, as he spoken briefly about how some of these dragons on the plains may be basically of evil like intetions when it comes to creature as such she sighed not even caring to reply anymore.

Auxina folded her arms tightly pouting again as usually with her bottom lip out and her head tilt down," I avoided it for a reason bub Hmph,  I just don't like talking about them, there not important..." she said with a bit of depression in her voice. Faolan appeared more of the type to be willing to hear out someone but give advice that'll maybe make someone think twice about him she presumed due to his slight apathetic expressions he's been making.

She must be very young.

Faolan sighed but kept moving on, expecting her to follow. He didn't have time to deal with that sort of thing if she wasn't going to be open to discussion. He didn't really know what to say to her. He was an adult, an experienced hunter, a dragon rider, and had almost a century on her in life experience. This already felt like he was going to be pulling teeth to keep her from being hunted down.

Because predators always went for groups with weak members. And children were weak in comparison. (Also dragons were not pushovers but Faolan would deal with that when the time came.)

"I can probably guess at this point," Faolan replied finally. "You're very emotional about it."

But that didn't matter. The grass rustled to either side of them. Faolan almost froze, but they were just deer. The deer pushed through the grass and past Faolan and Auxina, snorting softly. The only buck had a full rack of antlers that were the same green color as the grass around them, and each of the deer had long fangs jutting out of their mouths.

"Don't startle them," Faolan warned. "They're curious around humanoids but you don't want to be on the receiving end of their kicks. They'll gut you." He paused. "But if they nuzzle your face, you can pat them."

One could logically see what her parents were like based upon her actions along with where she currently is, they've must've not been doing something right, Auxina knew he'd caught on to why she didn't like to speak about her parents in which then she came to the conclusion to just inform him about her past soon.  It never occured to her that she never feared some creatures, recklessly going into danger she doesn't see any reason to be afraid of anything, yet then again there were evil dwellers out there so there was that however nonetheless she treated any creature she met with kindness which is why she befriends animals so quickly rather than humanoid creatures.

As Faolan frozed just a bit she heard the grass shuffling side by side in which then as she got close to him holding his leg she blew a sigh of relief that it wasn't nothing crazy looking, just a deer. As a few deers roamed there was suddenly an odd feeling as the larger deer appraoched, his antlers far exceeded the other deers that went passed them previously, what really surprised her is how the deer had fangs. Auxina carefully listened to faolan as he seemed to know alot about how to interact with certain animals, she turned her head at the deer and smiled cautiously walking towards it with her arms slightly out.

The buck snorted several times growling as she got closer, Auxina had to ensure of it's safety first," It's alright, my name is Auxina, I won't hurt you friend I just wanna pet you" she'd say calmly expressing her bright smile to give off more of a comforting feeling. She then reached her hand out to it in which then the buck's eyes narrowed by her touch, the growling ceased, his kneck lowered in which then she rubbed his face forseeing something tragic, a tear ran down her left eye as she saw the death of the deer. It was going to happen right after we leave from this vicinity.

Auxina rubbed her eye giving the deer a hug," Everyone I meet goes away.. and leaves me forever.. just like mom and dad... " She said sniffing occasionally as she speaks.

Faolan didn't really know what to say. What could he say? The deer moved on after the buck snorted and pushed through the grass. It was a nice break from the usual hunters, but migrations were in order and there was an important pitstop before the mass travel. Faolan frowned as the deer stepped away. Should he comfort Auxina?

"The deer will be fine," Faolan said. "Wild animals are not the same as other peoples."

That was probably inappropriate and he was already kicking himself mentally for saying anything. It would be best to just keep going. He flipped open a tiny compass that was embedded in one of his bracers. They were heading to far west. In a mile or two, they's have to veer a little more north. That was about where Faolan remembered G'reg being last.

They had an interesting conversation about expectations. G'reg decided that being secretive was better than saying anything, and Faolan strongly disagreed. G'reg said he'd be back soon, spread his wings, and took off. And he still wasn't back. Which Faolan found intensely annoying. He'd be sure to give the dragon a shove when they were together again. Only because Faolan couldn't really do much else.

There was more shuffling in the grass as they continued west. It was relatively quiet for a long time until it was close. Within twenty paces or so. That didn't bode well.

The shuffling sounds stopped and Faolan turned his head, coming face to face with a dragon. And by the looks of it, it wasn't a friendly one. Faolan remained completely still and hoped for a brief moment that Auxina was well versed enough to not make any sudden movements or loud sounds. Faolan took an experimental and very slow step backwards.

He made a number of hand gestures, some of which he hoped Auxina was able to understand, though it was relatively simple enough: Don't run.

Auxina stayed kneeled in the grass as the remaining deer along with the buck ran off in the opposite direction, she couldn't help but remember the vision she saw once she touched the larger deer, his death was going to be done by a hunter, well that's what she saw at the very least. Faolan seemed uncomfortable, and she didn't blame him at all for it, she was a mere inexperienced child venturing the world of antarsia on her own, she has dealt with her fair share of fights however she simply came to the realization that she is just not self aware of things when it gets intense however truthfully that side of her shall never go away.

Another tear drenched from her lime green eye as Faolan said there deer will be okay, gripping her palms immensely she shook her head side to side in indication that she didn't agree at all," That's a nice thought but no... he won't.. it was just his fate I guess" she said awkwardly chuckling at such a non laughing matter. Honeslty she didn't want to reveal her ability to see in the future as she felt as though it was more of a curse than a gift, beings who did knew of her having this ability feared of there own lives ending by her touch.

Auxina saw all creatures as equals, wild or not you were of essential value in her eyes," they may not be the same as other people however I still shall love them no matter what there like.." she'd say holding her arms while shaking off this depressive state," Now let's find your friend" she'd say with a smile. Following Faolan in a few directions the area's voice laid mute aside from the wind currents that picked up from time to time however that all changed when they were face to face with a dragon.

Excited she was she saw the fear in his eyes, this was no time to get curious and mistakenly just head over towards the giant beast, she slowly cautiously paced backwards hiding behind Faolan as she felt something odd about this dragon, it had a sinister look in it's eyes. Auxina didn't make any risky movements rather she just stayed put and only moved when the time was right.

Faolan's breathing nearly stopped. The dragon growled deeply, it's hot breath rolling over the two of them. Faolan reached out to G'reg, but received nothing in response. He'd have to figure this out on his own; there had to be a way for both of them to make it out alive surely. Maybe if the two of them could appeal to a dragon's vain nature.

"What's this?" said the dragon, its long body weaving through the grass out of sight. "Oh, one little humanoid elf and some kind of disgusting creature. My my, how delightful."

Faolan swallowed. "We don't mean any trouble," he said quickly, and quietly. "Just passing through."

The dragon's head was flat and wide, very reminiscent of a serpent. The thing that set it apart the most were rows of oddly shaped scales on the sides of its neck. They looked almost like claws, and they were tucked under scaled flaps right underneath the skin. They did not protrude very far. Faolan gathered that this dragon was upset, but not as hostile as previously thought.

But very very close.

"Just passing through," the dragon hummed. "That's what they all say. You don't mean any harm but you reek of dragonkin. Elf, you are not dragonkin."

"I am not," Faolan replied.

"So why are you out here in the grass, hmmm? Very dangerous for your kind." The dragon wound around them closer. Faolan hadn't realized how big this creature actually was, but they were surrounded by unseen coils and he could hear them. Auxina probably could have flown, but he was trapped on foot. "And what of the other creature?"

The dragon slithered forward a bit, revealing a huge brown and green striped body with tiny legs and a black underbelly. It arched it's head over Faolan to look Auxina right in the eye, snorting at her.

"You smell foreign," the dragon growled. "Why so quiet? Afraid?" And it showed every single one of its teeth in a wretched smile. "You should be."

Auxina gradually lost her fear for the dragon, in which then she stood up going right to the side of Faolan, her red and green eyes narrowed as he stared at them, she was annoyed by how it spoke to them as if he was somewhat exceeding them in strength, well logically in a way he was however then again Auxina knew her way around a battle or two in her lifetime of flying throughout Antarsia. Something was odd, she was called disgusting while Faolan was just called little which was an understatement since Auxina was shorter than him, why was he being more disrespectful to her than him, she noticed how his actions were a bit more excessive towards her in which then she balled up her fist infuriated by this beast, all her worries swept away in her conscience. Auxina stepped forward flapping her bat wings she soared upwards of close distance towards the face of the dragon," Look here mister, I don't appreciate you being mean to me and my friend! So what if he smells like a dragon, it's none of your business! You got nothing better to do than to just mess with travellers like us do you, you big meany!".

Auxina was quite bold and plainly courageous for standing up to such a bully, she didn't care what Faolan told her to do at this point, she only cared that she continued to stand up for herself. As he tried to make it seem as though she supposed to be afraid Auxina gave a neutral expression," No... your not scary at all.. at first yes but your just a big bully which isn't scary really just sad.. I won't ever be scared of you.. I've seen too much and endured to much to give into fear to a dragon as yourself.. I may be this brat that no one likes but gosh darn it! I won't allow you to keep messing with us, so leave us alone and go about your own business!" she'd say descending back down to Faolan folding her arms staring straight into his eyes in an apathetic facial expression.
