Undyne - Bamboozle - 12-11-2017 Character's Name: Undyne Nicknames: Di Age: Unknown Gender: Female Species: Demon {Martyr Royal} Abilities: To many demons, especially those of royal descent, magic is as natural as breathing, and Undyne is no exception to the rule. Her power often manifests as a white flame; sometimes cupped in her hand like a candle, lighting her path as she walks, at others animating the freshly dead to her will for a limited period of time. Lacking any outward skill in weaponry or combative fighting, she relies on her wit and power to see her through dangerous situations, and has been known to turn the bodies of the slain against their companions in a cruel bid to distract them. She is fearless during battles and will sustain wounds without a care to pain, sometimes failing to notice them altogether until they come dangerously close to summoning her true form. At this time, her power grows to uncontrollable levels, heating the air around her and igniting fires at random unless directed in a punishing blast. Appearance: As is the case with royal demons, Undyne has four forms she moves between: Human In her human form, Undyne appears as a tall, raven-haired woman, slender to the point of delicacy. Her features are high and aristocratic; yet the fairness of her skin, already pale as lily petals, is whitened still further on the left side of her face, which is painted in the form of a stylized skull. Shockingly dark around the hollow around her eye, the dramatic white sweep of her cheek and jaw are detailed in elaborate patterns mimicking the swirl of vines and tiny flowers. By comparison, the right side of her face is plain, though the spectacular contrast makes it seem more human.* This being her favorite, even normal, form, Undyne often adorns herself in beautiful clothing, usually in some variant of white and black. Her hair is always loose, falling in luxuriant waves to her waist, and always gently pinned back from her face with a rose plucked in full bloom. She rarely shows her back; while her garments may change, beneath them her torso is bound with several strips of white cloth - bandages that are always stained freshly red over a wound deep between the blades of her shoulders. When agitated into her true form, Undyne always reverts to her human avatar, wherein the decoration of her facial skull becomes real bone and the violet eye within melts into a flame. Her fingers will lengthen and transform into wicked unretractable claws nearly a foot long and sharp enough to slice flesh like paper. Skeletal wings with feathers but no flesh will sprout from her shoulders, and white fire will coalesce into a crown above her head, drawing strange mockery of the images of angels depicted in so many human dwellings across the land. *the image i am trying to recreate here is half of a sugar skull Mundane In addition to her human form, Undyne can alter her appearance into that of a cat, a falcon, and a coyote, all of which are jet black save for the left half of their faces that appear shockingly white. In all forms she retains her eye color: a deep, rich violet. Her cat and coyote form also tend to have longer, sweeping tails than their natural brethren, and her falcon form is often mistaken for a carrion bird from afar. Mythical Finally, Undyne's last and most rarely used form is that of a dragon. Small and relatively frail for the species, she is nevertheless many times stronger than an elf or human in this body, and her scales have the texture and brittle strength of obsidian slates. Her wings are feathered, closely resembling those of her falcon shape, and a row of blood-red spines run the length of her back and tail, rising and falling in response to her mood. Like all of her other bodies, Undyne's dragon form is black, though the left side of her face remains a brilliant white; but unlike the others, her dragon face retains the intricate designs present in her human avatar, with tiny scales replicating the sweeping black lines of a painter's brush. Personality: Undyne is unusually reverent for a demon. Often walking the lonely paths between the shrines of the gods, she is accustomed to silence, and in the rare times when she has a walking companion, she will encourage them to tell their stories while she listens and occasionally interjects with a question. She is far from impulsive but is not slow to react, either, often taking logical approaches in the face of others' passions. So uncommon is it for her to invoke her true form that there are few enough alive able to recall what it is; instead, legends attach themselves to the ghostly maiden figure prowling the night, never sleeping and never eating, with a candle flame wavering between her fingers. In truth, though, Undyne is a master manipulator. Her travels are not all altruistic; she prays at the shrines, yes, but more to maintain the image of her devotion than to prove piety. These journeys serve instead to keep her informed of the goings-on in each of the demon regions, through which she walks freely, and allow her to meet others that always end up indebted to her in one form or another. Though her goals are unknown to all but her, she likes to nudge the others, and craves influence. More than once she has stood just off the center of a power struggle, her eye fixated on the rivals even as she moves to shape the outcome.
