Staff has been busy and we're sorry to keep you guys waiting for this month's newsletter! We have a number of things to show you guys, so we're excited to share them with you. The biggest being this month's event!

<h3><div class="h3-underline">The Vikta</div></h3>
The magic explanation has explanded to include the magical force in the world known as the Vikta. The Vikta is considered spirit energy in its rawest, purest form and is the source of all magic in the world. It is the embodiment of the souls of all living things from past to future. Some have come to consider it fate, while others believe it to just be the strongest magic known to all. It is thought to have existed long before the gods were ever created and in turn were what created Jaelanai, Goddess of Life, and Akros, God of Knowledge. You can read more about it here.

<h3><div class="h3-underline">Nights of Corruption!</div></h3>
The Nights of Corruption are this month's event! The way that it goes is simple. Staff will be hosting AU events throughout the month where members can post in order to generate black feathers.  Black feathers are a currency that is only available during this event. Every time that a member posts a reply, it will generate between 1-10 feathers. If staff really likes the post, then you have a chance to receive a white feather worth 25 black feathers! These feathers can be used as currency in the Graveyard to make purchases that can vary from shop items to god favors/curses, staff appointed donations (art, coding, etc.), and more!

There will be no posting order on these. Once a day, staff will respond to all that have replied on the thread, generally the staff member who is hosting that thread. Obviously, the more you post the more feathers you will get to spend at the Graveyard! The Graveyard will open the last week of October and will be open until November 15th when it disappears until next year.  All unused feathers will disintegrate into ash come November 15th.

Throughout the month, we will add more AU events and we will be releasing more content throughout the site such as curses, species, creatures, and more. Some of these will be released through these AU events, so keep a look out for them! All games will be hosted in the Games Corner as well as the shop when it opens, so keep your eyes peeled for when staff opens up a new game! Remember: These are AU so they are not considered canon and some may not be set in Antarsia completely such as a modern day corn maze or something of the nature. Just have fun with this!

<h3><div class="h3-underline">New Curses</div></h3>
To make up for our delay in releasing the event and the newsletter, we have already released two new curses! Please welcome the Banshee and the Wendigo curses!

<h3><div class="h3-underline">New Themes + Guidebook Skin!</div></h3>
Not only have we got a new theme for the event, but we have a second theme to share with you guys! Please welcome out themes, Afraid of the Dark and Feaya's Dreams. Afraid of the Dark ties to this event as well as relates to the plot ;D It is classified as a dark theme, so those who do not like these kind should avoid it. Feaya's Dreams features our goddess, Feaya, in all her wonderful glory. This theme is classified as a light and bright theme so if that isn't your jam, it is best to avoid.

Afraid of the Dark has now taken over the guidebook. Tharamos has retired to his chambers and this new figure has arisen in his place. Who is this mysterious woman?

Musician - Lyre is a gifted musician, and has a knack for playing many different kinds of instruments. She's quick to learn new ones, and many believe her to have what's known as perfect pitch, where she can tell what note is being played, regardless of key or octave.

Charming - Lyre could charm the skin off a snake. While not particularly a skill, she's a fierce negotiator, and is very good at getting the information she seeks.

Athletic - As a dancer, Lyre has a very fit body. She can contort herself into several unbelievable poses, hold herself up with just one arm, and fly through the air with grace. She moves with hardly a sound, an impressive feat for a woman who wears as much jewelry as she can.

Personality:
Charming - Lyre has a way with people. Even when not speaking she has a way of capturing the attention of others. Sweet and beguiling, polite and just amiable enough to make anyone, man or woman, feel as though they're her world, she's an expert in her craft of word and dance. She holds herself in such a way that invites attention, and is generally friendly and well meaning, but this doesn't mean she's above using flattery and niceties to manipulate others. She's been described as being magnetic, and her charisma draws in crowds. 

Vain - A rather shallow individual, Lyre prides herself on being beautiful. She values this beauty above all else, and doesn't take kindly to those she perceives as less beautiful marring her skin. While she can play the part of acting as though she cares for those less beautiful, her close circle of friends are always those with exceptional beauty. Even her quest for immortality is driven by her vanity, so she may remain young and beautiful forever.

Tricky - Lyre is very tricky and hard to read. As charismatic as she is, it's also a means for her to deceive and use others to further her own devices. A well placed lie can put friend against friend, allowing her to turn the tide and make an ally she needs, or to gather the information she requires. While she can be scheming and devious, it's not something she does often without good reason.

Hardworking - No one can accuse Lyre of being lazy. Hardworking and dedicated to her craft, she's always striving to learn more and improve her skills. Even with the hardest dance steps, Lyre will persevere until she's mastered it. This dedication is what drives her forward in all things. Without this drive, she would be aimless, lost in her despair over the death of her mother and the fear of losing her beauty.

Provocative - Clad in as little clothing as she can possibly wear, many think Lyre provocative and easy. They wouldn't be mistaken. Lyre knows her body is just another tool she can use to get what she wants, and if that means bedding another? So be it. She's not above such things, though she'll only bed beautiful people, refusing to stoop so low as to sleep with one below her standards.

History:
Lyre was born to a traveling troupe of performers. Her mother was a dancer, and her father was an illusionist (or a magician). She grew up steeped in show life, and aspired to be one of the greatest dancers the world had ever seen. She, like her eight sisters before her, trained day and night, and beguiled crowds from town to town as they traveled; but it was their mother who was the star of their act. They say she could pull the very stars from the sky to captivate her audiences. She and her family lived happily, and traveled all across Sleibte to share their crafts. The troupe was well liked, and had many acts--sword swallowers, beast tamers, acrobatics--they drew in crowds for miles.

But the heart of their dance act died with her mother.

Her illness was slow to set on, but robbed her of her youth and beauty. A once spry and beautiful woman grew brittle and sickly, until she finally faded away. As the troupe traveled, Lyre's father sought a cure desperately to no avail, and watching their mother fade away was hard on all the girls, but particularly on Lyre, the youngest. After her mother died, she became obsessed with beauty and youth. When she came of age, Lyre left the troupe in search of immortality, promising to return when she'd found a way to forever preserve her youth and beauty.

Name- Balthazar the Tidebringer
Also referred to as Bringer of Roaring Tides
More fearfully, he has been called The Primordial Ocean.

Age- unknown, ancient

Gender- Male

Powers- He is reasonably skilled with water magic, and has mastered the basics of telepathy.. He can channel his thoughts along with a vocal screech to stun and paralyze his prey. This is more effective underwater.

Appearance- A long beast, Balthazar is nearly 3 miles long from nose to tail. His scales are a deep blue, providing just enough camouflage for him to get relatively close to his prey. He possesses many fins of varying shades of blue, though the main hue is purple. Webbed spines of violet extend in sections along his back. He possesses four tendrils that trail out from about a third of the way down his body. These tendrils resemble tentacles, though the tips are hardened and sharp, like spikes. A single long tailfin extends from the end of his body.

His head is dragon-like, with two frilled horns sticking out of the back. One row of massive teeth sits in each jaw, and he has two hardened horns at the back of his mouth, protecting the joint. His eyes have no set color, instead varying depending on his mood. However, they default to red, as he is almost always hungry.

Various sections along his body are bio-luminescent. The coloration of these sections usually matches his eyes, and have the same hypnotic effect.

Personality- When he hatched, he was like the rest of his kind: a simple beast. Time has granted him intelligence, and a degree of wisdom as well. He has moved beyond the simple pleasures of his kind, though he still enjoys them just as any other. He is slow to anger, but fierce when roused. He may help or harm any he comes across, based on his own amusement. He does enjoy tales about events on land, and is willing to trade favors for stories.

His mind is strange and alien, behaving according to a series of thoughts and morals that seem twisted and confusing to others. In spite of this, he does try to be reasonable, as long as he is not hungry.

History- Balthazar was one of the the earliest born leviathans. He has dwelled in the deeper parts of the oceans, remaining a distant figure, even to the beasts that share his domain. Over time, he has come to be known as a sort of primordial creature. Ancient and eternal, the seafolk told stories of his wrath to frighten children, while others had come to view him as the incarnation of the ocean's malevolence.

Note: Balthazar's massive size is a rarity, due to a combination of him consuming other large leviathans that he comes across, and him sustaining himself on the energy of the ocean itself, though this method lacks the ability to heal.

Abilities:
His fangs are filled with a poison. He is capable of changing the composition of the poison at will, resulting in different bites requiring different treatments. Despite his size, he is a fast creature, and is quite effective as hit and run attacks. He is also aided by the ability to slip into shadows, using them as a gateway to elsewhere, so long as he can sense the other end.

Appearance:
A massive beast that comes to nearly four and a half feet tall. He has double sets of canines in his mouth, some of them long enough to resemble a saber-toothed beast. His fur is a deep crimson, with black streaks in his fur starting from his neck and leading down to the base of his tail.

Personality:
Acting as Viorolll's enforcer, Romule is commonly known as a bloodthirsty brute that will gladly tear your throat out if you anger his master. In truth, however, Romule is a rather passive creature. He tends to be a stoic observer, not really getting involved in affairs unless requested by his master. In his youth, he was more reckless, but time has taught him the value of patience, especially since he was granted immortality to keep serving his master.

He is not young, and has been known to offer advice or other benefits to the people in his charge. He is one of the few beings Vioroll would trust with the safety of his family, and the Helvate rewards this trust with absolute loyalty. He willingly accepted Vioroll's brand, mostly for the connection with his master. In exchange, his master rarely uses the brand for anything other than communication.

History:
Vioroll's personal Helvate, he has spent his entire life in service to his master, since the early days of War.

Demon- Terror

Abilities:

Shape Shifting- Like many other demon kind, Zagan is able to transform himself into three different species of animal; a Lynx, a Philippine Eagle, and a Python. Some forms he chooses for different thing, the Lynx, for example, is usually in snowy regions or the world or during winter times. 

Fear Illusion- He is able to create one's most hated fears into an almost realistic illusions using the black mist that come from his body, causing fear and panic in those unlucky enough to cross his path. 

Shadow Manipulation- Though not a skill he is very well versed in, he can use shadows to create various spooky shapes against walls, trees, ect. Zagan uses this to mess with people most of the time, always loving the sudden fear caused by them in others. 

True Form- only used when in dire situations and usually feels horrible as shit afterwards. 

Uncomfortable- Though not a magic ability of any sort, the man is naked from head to toe. If you show any instant of being uncomfortable with his nudity at any point when interacting with him, he'll try and make you even more so. This includes; jumping, hip rocking, squatting, or anything else that might make one cringe

Personality:

Zagan can be quite the cocky man, he enjoys watching the fear in peoples eyes and causing them to panic; if for not reason other than his own enjoyment. Which probably makes him quite cynical in a way, as he most enjoys doing things when it comes to his own interests and beliefs. His taste for mischief and chaos are really the things that drive him in the world, knowing there is a lot of fear he can cause in the hearts of anyone he so desires. Young, old, man, woman, or child; it doesn't really matter. As long as the fear is in their eyes it's all he could ever hope for. 

Though when he's not tormenting poor souls, he is quite lazy most of the time; lounging about in any animal form or even just his base form. Can be found chilling in trees mostly, as he tries to find anything to keep himself busy with. He's playful in a way with those he finds himself liking, teasing then any way he can just for the hell of it. His standards of friendship are weird as well, usually because he enjoys bugging them. God help those poor souls that have to constantly see his junk hanging loose for the entire world to see. No shame, no shame. 

History: 

Zagan has hated clothes every since he was a child, always being forced to wear whatever his parents wanted him to; even if it was the stupidest thing in the very existence of the world itself. Out in public he would keep his clothes on as instructed, but as soon as he got him his parents had the hardest time keeping the clothes on him after that.

Species: Kitsune

Abilities:
Illusions. Unusual for a kitsune but common for his clan, Kamilo has little talent with illusions and can generally only create vague shapes out of shadows.

Fire. In exchange for his shortcomings in illusion, Kamilo has a lot of strength in fire magic. He can conjure large amounts of powerful fire easily, though he has very little actual control over it. Even small uses of fire or being near fire can turn dangerous for Kamilo because of this.

Appearance:
As a human, Kamilo has the appearance of a scrawny, lanky teenager. He stands at 5'11" and about 130lbs, with a thin and bony frame. His skin is brown, similar to the tan color of his fur. Kamilo usually exhibits his form between human and fox, so his tails and fox ears are usually visible.
Much like his body, Kamilo's face is long, thin, and angular. It is framed by messy, dark brown hair that falls below his chin in the front and is cut short in the back. His eyes are brown, with oval, fox-like pupils. Sharp teeth are usually visible behind his mischievous grin.
As a desert-dweller, Kamilo wears light and flowing clothes, often in neutral colors. He is a fan of billowing pants, bandanas, and poncho-like tops, usually without a shirt underneath. Though he prefers to be barefoot, Kamilo will wear simple sandals when necessary. For storage he carries a leather single-strap bag.

As a fox, Kamilo looks well-suited to the desert he hails from. His short fur is mostly a dark sandy color, with brown points on his shoulders, ears, and tail tips. He is lanky, with long, thin legs and a narrow body. Kamilo's ears are tall and pointy. The young kitsune has only three tails, all rather short and light.


Personality:
Mischievous. Unsurprisingly for his species, Kamilo likes to get into trouble and play tricks on others. He is most known for petty thievery and cons for small profit, but it is not unusual for him to pull mean pranks just for a laugh. Trespassing and snooping around are not off-limits to him. His lack of concern for rules usually does not extend to activities that would physically harm others, and he has no desire to cause lasting damage, but he is not above most crimes of property or causing inconvenience.
Selfish. Kamilo's self-serving nature extends beyond his tendency for sticky fingers. He generally only cares about himself, and has little concern for the well-being of others. The idea of compassion seems like a burden to him, while acting only for himself and using others to his advantage has more benefits. Though he does not necessarily believe he is more deserving than others, he sees no problem in taking the things he wants instead of earning them in a more fair way.
Lonely. Despite preferring the all-for-one approach, Kamilo does crave attention to some degree, and as an adolescent his feelings on this matter are not fully developed. Presently he seeks out negative attention through causing scenes and trickery, which gives him some form of satisfaction. Whether or not he desires or needs camaraderie is a question he has not spent much time on, even though it bothers him in the back of his mind.

History:
Kamilo was born in the Nkazon desert to a sand-dwelling clan of kitsune notorious for being thieves and pyromancers. This clan is small but widespread, usually sticking to solitary life or living in immediate family units but identifying each other by a tattoo on the shoulder given before a kitsune leaves their family.

Age: 65 (Young Adult)

Gender: Female

Species: Bellonese (deer)

Abilities: 
Agility. Thanks to being small and slight, as well as to possessing deer legs, Iris is very quick and agile. She can run and maneuver obstacles with little difficulty and almost never loses her balance. Her leaps are especially impressive.
Plant Magic. Iris can use magic that manipulates plants, including influencing their shape and size, improving their health and growth rate, and causing them to move.
Light Magic. Iris has practice with basic healing magic, useful for first aid and minor pain relief. Her healing powers work better on plants than people or animals.

Appearance:
Iris is a little thing, only about five feet tall and one hundred pounds, and most of that is her legs. All of her frame is thin and angular, contributing to her tiny appearance. Starting at the waist, Iris possesses the long legs of a deer. Her skin is fair and freckled, with her lower half being covered in short, light brown fur with white spots.
Iris's face is heart shaped with a small nose and mouth and large brown eyes. Short blonde hair frames her face, falling to about chin-length and curling at the ends. Her cheeks are pink with an abundance of dark freckles. In place of human ears, Iris has large deer ears, furry and spotted like her legs. She is almost always smiling, and her eyes are almost always wide and bright.
Clothes were not common in Iris' herd except for utility, so in private Iris usually goes without. However, as this is not socially acceptable in most other places, she often covers her upper half with feminine, flowery blouses.

Personality:
Energetic. Iris is a very lively and active person, always bright and full of energy. For someone so small she is quite loud, and is hard to go unnoticed in a crowd. She moves around a lot and does not have much patience for sitting still; even when having a simple conversation, she likes to be busy or at least walking around. Multitasking comes easily to her. Full of stamina, she can work and run around for quite a while before running out of steam. While she is capable of relaxing when she chooses to, Iris has trouble being idle when there are things she would rather be doing.

Bold. For a deer, Iris is neither shy nor skittish. She has no problem approaching strangers, trying new things, or going to new places; in fact, she enjoys these things. Adventurous and even daring, she is not easily put off by the possibility of embarrassment or failure. She is also not afraid to speak her mind, even in tense situations; Iris has been known to get in the faces (as much as such a short person can) of people while arguing with them, which she has no problem doing when she believes someone is in the wrong. 

Compassionate. Iris is very friendly and sociable, and she cares deeply about people and other living things. She wants the best for everyone and feels the need to provide for others, especially those in need. Though she is not in a position to be especially generous, she will often go out of her way to make others feel good when she can with what she has. This is especially true for those close to her, and she loves showering those she loves with attention, affection, and other nice things.

History:
Iris was raised in the forests of Xira alongside her familial herd of deer bellonese, where they often traveled between various small settlements depending on the time of year. Though her parents were present and cared for her, Iris was especially close to her older brother, Hawthorne, who was an important role model for her and had a large role in raising her. Her immediate family's role in the herd was usually related to gardening, and it was because of this that Iris fostered an interest in plants and focused on mastering plant-related magic.
Due to their location in the world, Iris was often exposed to all different sorts of people of different species and backgrounds, so she has always been well versed in the world outside her home. Thanks to this, she developed an adventurous and curious spirit that helped push her toward her current occupation as a traveling florist.

<b>Weather:</b> Balmy summer temperatures, with a few wispy clouds but not much to fear. The forest is particularly lush.

Naren was broke, and hungry. Sure, he could go off into the forest and find some edible plants, but it took no small amount of effort, and he had become accustomed to eating delicious, varied food. Not whatever he could root out the ground and char over a fire. That would take hours of effort harvesting, preparing and cooking, which wouldn't really satisfy his current aching for something hot. A little morsel of pastry perhaps, with cheese and sweet tomatoes.
His mouth watered at the very thought of it. 

However, the forest road barely offered more than spiked rocks underfoot and unripe fruits hanging from the trees that bent down overhead. Not a delicious meal. Perhaps give it another half a season, and then things would be starting to look more promising... Perhaps when he passed back this way again come the autumn there would be better pickings. But again, it didn't satisfy his current cravings. There were too many birds around as well, tiny little ball-shaped things that flitted between the branches above and shouted obscenities at one another. They'd have the best of the fruit before he could get at it, especially if he wasn't hanging around the area. No, it was useless trying to find anything himself here. Anything edible would have gone to the forest creatures as soon as it appeared- and if they hadn't had it, no doubt travellers previous to himself would have taken the ripe pickings. He grumbled to himself and hoped that the road led somewhere soon, where he could beg some lunch off a tradesman or inn in return for a song or two. Perhaps three, if they had something tasty with cheese involved.

Abilities:
Solar powered - Like all Sol'tera, Ilios is powered by the sun's rays. It's the source of his magic, as well as his strength, endurance, and speed. His connection to the sun is so great that he can even tell what time it is based on where the sun is, even while indoors. It makes for a neat party trick. He gets desperately weak when exposed to prolonged darkness.

Light magic - Ilios is adept with light magic, and wields it both offensively and defensively. He has a fondness for channeling his magic through the gem on his staff and using it to temporarily blind his opponents.

Enhanced Hearing - He has an even better sense of hearing than most Sol'tera, due in part to his self imposed blindness. In spite of this, Ilios doesn't have any difficulties moving about. He's adjusted to a life without sight, though he does bump into things on occasion (it's more often than he'd like to admit).

Clairvoyance - Ilios was gifted with another ability: being able to see into the future. His gift is so great that he can see the futures of everyone he makes eye contact with, and even worse is that these visions of the future constantly change and swirl about him. He can see the many different paths that time may take, and it's incredibly overwhelming for him. No amount of training has granted him any control--something he greatly resents.

Personality:
Just - Ilios has a strong sense of justice. He's a firm believer in justice being blind, and prefers to get the full story before passing judgement on anyone. He always strives to do the right thing, nd his moral compass is straight and narrow. He has little tolerance for the corruption of society, and won't hesitate to stand up for the weak and oppressed.

Disciplined - A disciplined man, Ilios has incredibly self control. He chooses to do what he knows he should do over what he wants to do. This has made him a responsible, respectful, and well-adjusted man. To maintain his willpower, and a clear mind, he meditates on a daily basis, generally when the sun begins to rise. He also takes this time to pray for the guidance and strength to keep him on the right path.

Wise - Ilios is wise beyond his years. He often has sagely advice for those who seek answers to their problems, and many times he simply sets those on the path to finding what they seek, rather than simply telling them. This, at times, has him coming across as rather enigmatic. Not that he minds much.

Playful - Ilios is not as serious as he appears to be. He has a playful side, one that enjoys playing (harmless) jokes on others. He often speaks in a teasing manner when he's not trying to be serious, and a smile can usually be found on his face. He gets along quite well with children and animals because of this, and he tends to find himself actively seeking their company when he isn't on a mission.

Cautious - If his wisdom has taught him anything, it's to always ere on the side of caution. He prefers to think before acting, and often this can cause him to delay taking action, or he won't take any action at all. He often ends up overthinking the situation in an attempt to determine the best course of action. While not always a detriment, his caution has spared him from some very unfortunate accidents in the past.

History:

Ilios was born in Nuru, where he was set to eventually inherit the care of the temples. This plan was put to an end when he was still an infant--unknown to his caretakers, Ilios was already seeing visions of the future. Overwhelmed by these, he was a difficult and fussy infant. It wasn't until he learned to talk that those around him became aware of what the boy was experiencing. When he was five, it ws decided that Ilios would wear a blindfold to hide the world from his gaze. Whenever he was caught fiddling with the blindfold, Ilios was punished, and as the years passed by he grew more accustomed to his blindness, though his mobility isn't entirely perfect. He relies heavily on his staff for this reason, and when without it he's noticeably at a loss.

With his responsibilities to the temple no longer needed, Iios was free to pursue a life of his own making. With his gifts he made the decision to leave Nuru and travel to the outside world, hunting for rogue demons and other dark creatures to make the world a better place. It wasn't until he left that Ilios discovered the injustices of the world, and he has since made it his mission to improve the lives of the general populace.
